Here are a few of our favorite Morehead City restaurants that are worth a visit—be sure to call ahead to see if they’re allowing dine-in or takeout!
Searching for small plates that pack plenty of flavor? Look no further than Circa 81, a tapas restaurant that uses locally sourced ingredients to craft their seasonal menus. Diners love the chic, minimalist setting, and their cocktails simply can’t be beat.
Currently, Circa 81 is open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery every day of the week except Tuesday.
Cox Family Restaurant
Although it may seem unassuming from the outside, Cox Family Restaurant serves up a host of iconic Southern flavors that locals know and love. Be sure to check their whiteboard menu when you walk in—their rotating selections include everything from crab cakes to a full breakfast.
This Morehead City favorite is open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Ruddy Duck Tavern
Located on Evans Street, the Ruddy Duck Tavern’s menu showcases fresh seafood, gourmet burgers, and even thin-crust pizzas. And if you want to take in stunning views of the Bogue Sound, be sure to ask for a seat on the back deck!
The Ruddy Duck is offering dine-in seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. Takeout service is currently limited, so be sure to call ahead for additional information.
Snapperz Grill & Steam Bar
You’ll feel right at home when you dine at Snapperz, a Morehead City staple that has some of the freshest seafood in town. Be sure to try their famous “steam pots,” which taste like a mini low country boil! Snapperz also has plenty of salads, sandwiches, and seafood platters for lunch and dinner.
Snapperz currently offers dine-in and takeout from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. They’re also open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Nostalgia awaits at El’s, the only drive-in restaurant in all of Morehead City! It’s easy to see why this iconic eatery has been featured in countless TV shows and magazines—they’ve been serving reinvented fast food eats since opening their doors in 1959. Highlights include shrimp and oyster burgers, as well as freshly made Carolina slaw.
As always, El’s Drive-In is open for curbside pickup from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
