It’s almost that time of year again—the days are starting to cool down and fall is in the air… which means the Seafood Fest is right around the corner! If you’re looking for a way to have some fun, celebrate the season, and sample some of the freshest flavors on the North Carolina coast, then you definitely won’t want to miss the 2019 North Carolina Seafood Festival.
Here’s what you need to know about Seafood Fest 2019.
It’s a Full Weekend of Fun and Festivity in Morehead City
The Seafood Festival starts Friday, October 4 and continues through Sunday, October 6. You can find it at 412 Evans Street in Downtown Morehead City. Throughout the weekend, there will be live music, food, games, events, demonstrations, vendors, and more.
Actually, It Starts Thursday with a Boil
Technically, the fun starts Thursday, October 3 with the Low Country Boil at The Cove. Enjoy a true seafood dinner of potatoes, corn, and shrimp at Katherine Davis Park between 5:30 and 7:30pm. The food is all prepared by Carteret Community College Culinary School Students and each ticket includes two alcoholic beverages (so it is a 21+ event).
Friday Continues with an Armband Fundraiser
The true Festival starts on Friday, October 4 at 3pm with an Armband Fundraiser to support local schools. Each armband is $30, with partial proceeds going to the school of your choice. Bands give you unlimited access to rides from 3pm – 11pm on Friday.
Saturday is Absolutely Filled with Fun
Saturday’s events start up bright and early with a 7am Triple Bridge Road Race. Choose from a 5K, 10K, or half marathon distance and get ready to run through Morehead City to the Atlantic Beach Causeway.
Next, cook with chefs, shuck some oysters, or head to the Port of Pours. Chef demonstrations will be held starting at 10am and will feature notable local and regional chefs. The Oyster Shucking Contest starts up at 12pm and is open to all amateur and professional contestants.
The night closes with the Port of Pours. A VIP ticket gets you early access to complementary apps and unlimited samples of craft beer.
Sunday Finishes Up with More Great Events
The final day of the Festival opens with a magnificent Sailing Regatta at 8am, and is followed by more cooking demonstrations from renowned chefs.
A special new event this year, Babes and Bubbles is a celebration of women (though men are welcome to the event, too). It starts with yoga and is followed with brunch, cocktails, and live entertainment.
Live Music Throughout the Weekend
Throughout the three-day event, there will be tons of local performances and live entertainment, including bands, dancers, solo performers, cheerleaders, and local schools. Each day will welcome new talents to the stage.
