Team Top Dog took home an impressive $793,188 purse with a record-breaking 914-pound marlin. Captain Ryan Knapp and angler Todd Dickerson wrestled with their fish for more than five hours, with an additional 90 minutes to get the catch (partially) into their boat.

This year’s winner breaks the previous record of 831 lbs set in 2000 by Summertime Blues.

It Was a Dramatic Finish This Year!

On Day 5 of the tournament, the competition turned fierce when five boats sent the show into overtime. By the 2pm cutoff on Saturday, only one marlin was boated, leaving five still battling for their fish. Big Rock rules allow anglers to keep fighting after the cutoff—so four boats battled for hours into the night.

First to return was the husband-and-wife team on Triple S with a 429.3 lb catch. They were followed in by Double B (497.6 lbs) and Teresa Jean (582 lbs).

This overturned the previous 2nd-place leader Sweetums (545.1 lbs)—though they still took home a sizeable prize for being the first boat to land a 500+ pound catch. Still in first was Wolverine with a 588.9 lb fish.

Finally reeling in their fish for a final weigh-in, Top Dog blew the competition out of the water with their 914-pounder. Wolverine held on to second place, and Donna Mae took third.

Other prizes went to Annie O (most release points), Brillin & Billin (second most release points), Full Pull (release WTA price), Job Site (dolphin division), Uno Mas (wahoo division), and Predator (tuna division).
