Witness Living History at the Beaufort Pirate Invasion
It’s been 300 years (exactly!) since the legendary Blackbeard roamed the shores of the Crystal Coast, pillaging, plundering, and looting. And this weekend, Friday and Saturday August 10 and 11, we’ll be celebrating that unique part of our history with two full days of reenactments, living history demonstrations, food, entertainment, costume contests, Pirate School, and more!
Experience Life as a 17th Century Pirate
Experience 17th century life on the Crystal Coast with over 100 pirate and militia reenactors roaming the streets, with cannons blasting and swordfighting, with mock trials, black power weapons demonstrations, and even pirate invasion reenactments!
Don’t forget to visit the North Carolina Maritime Museum to check out the new Blackbeard exhibit, then stop by the Watercraft Center across the street for some live entertainment.
Witness the Original Pirate Invasion!
Friday at 5 brings a reenactment of the Original Beaufort Pirate Invasion at the original landing site at Grayden Paul Park! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event you definitely won’t want to miss.
Enjoy a Delicious Waterfront Picnic Dinner
After the invasion, stick around for Parley on the Waterfront, where you can spread your blankets and enjoy a picnic-style buffet of barbecue (Friday) or chicken (Sunday). In addition to great food, there will be live music and entertainment for all.
Strap on Your Boots for YO HO HO and a bottle o’ RUN
Saturday morning, get your running boots on for a 5k road race along the waterfront! Registration starts at 7 (or preregister) and cannons announce the start of the race at 8am sharp.
Live Through a Live-Action Pirate Battle!
Missed the Invasion? That’s okay… you can still catch the legendary Battle of Blackbeard at 5pm on Saturday at Eury Park. Stick around for another great Parley on the Waterfront dinner afterwards.
