Looking for a way to get out, get active, and have some fun in Morehead City this summer? Check out some of the best events and activities coming soon to summer.
Alive at Five 2018
Wind down the week every first and third Friday with a free summer concert series in Jaycee Park, Downtown Morehead City. Concerts start at 5 and run through 8, and there are still two shows left—July 20 (canceled due to weather), August 3, and August 17.
Love outdoor concerts? Check out some of the other great shows happening around the Crystal Coast—Live on Thursdays in Beaufort, Summer Concerts in the Fort in Atlantic Beach, The EmeraldFest Series, and more.
Morehead City Curb Market
Every Saturday May through October, Morehead City hosts a handmade and handgrown market. From 8am to 1pm, head to 112 Evans Street (a covered vendor pavilion) to shop local at Morehead’s favorite quaint old market.
Bogue Sound Full Moon Paddle
Forget kayaking under the hot sun—there’s nothing like a moonlit paddle on Bogue Sound! There are two full moons left this summer, so you have TWO weekends (four evenings) to partake. In July, there are July 27 and 28, and in August, the 26th and 27th. Kayaks are available to borrow from 9404 Coast Guard Road in Emerald Isle, and the paddle runs from 6:30 to 8:30.
Coast Farm to Table Charity Dinner
A sister event to the popular Carolina Chocolate Festival, the Charity Dinner benefits local organizations like Carteret Domestic Violence, White Oak Bridge, and Second Blessing. On July 28 from 7 to 10pm, head to 601 Arendell Street in Morehead City for an evening of delightful eats, great music, and pleasant company.
Partake in Free Wine Tastings at the Chandlery
Try a Local Fun Run
Love to run while having fun! Try a themed run, like the 4th Annual Do It for Drew 5k Color Run. On August 11, take a scenic tour around Emerald Isle while benefiting the Do It for Drew Foundation—and getting splashed with bright colors.
Another favorite run is the Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Run 5k 2018 at the corner of Turner and Front Street in Beaufort. Registration is at 7 am, the race runs from 8 to 10, and there are prizes for the best costumes for individuals and crews.
Eat Well at the Taste of Core Sound
Enjoy a night of delicious seafood (locally caught and cooked by Down East volunteers), great music, and a silent auction. On August 31, from 6 – 9pm, head to the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center on Harkers Island to enjoy a laid-back dinner event.
