There’s no better way to experience the breathtaking natural beauty of the Crystal Coast than by camping! And whether you’re looking for remote wilderness camping on a secluded beach or you want a more comfortable RV campground chock-full of the amenities you need for a longer stay, there are many places to truly enjoy your Crystal Coast camping experience.
Cape Lookout National Seashore
For those seeking that true remote-camping experience, head to the Cape Lookout National Seashore. It’s only accessible by ferry or private boat, so strap on your backpack, load up your boat, and head out on a true wilderness camping adventure. Stake out your own secluded slice of waterfront beach (no campground necessary) and wake up to the sound of wild horses in the distance.
Oyster Point Campground in Newport, NC
Another scenic and somewhat private campground (only 15 sites so it’s never too busy), Oyster Point is located on the Intracoastal and adjacent to the 21-mile Neusiok Trail trailhead. Each site features a picnic table, fire grill, tent pad, andlantern post, so it’s primitive camping… but not too primitive.
Coastal Riverside Campground in Beaufort
With both tent campsites and RV sites, Riverside is the best of both worlds. Its location near the North River lends it some amazing amenities, like a fishing pier and boat ramp on the Salt Water Creek, as well as shaded camping sites, a freshwater fishing pond, and a bathhouse. Pets are welcome.
Camp Ocean Forest in Emerald Isle
Located just minutes from the Atlantic beach and steps from shopping and dining in Emerald Isle, Camp Ocean offers water, electrical, and sewage connections, as well as picnic tables, cable TV, laundry facilities, and restrooms.
Whispering Pines RV Park in Newport
Enjoy easy access to the Bogue Sound at Whispering Pines with an on-site boat ramp! Full hookup sites feature cable TV and wifi, and the community also provides a fishing pier, swimming pool, clubhouse with game room, bathhouse, dog park, freshwater fishing pond, and playground.
Goose Creek Resort in Newport
If there’s such a thing as luxury camping (“glamping” I believe is the proper term), then Goose Creek Resort is the place to find it! Full TV hookups, water and power accessible tent sites, a playground, waterslide, pool, and game room are just the beginning! This “entertainment” campground also features seasonal events and festivities!
